Julian Norwood.  Illustrator

Julian Norwood is an openly trans writer and illustrator living on a green, solar powered, small acre homestead in rural Connecticut with his wife, an assortment of cats, a doberman, too many fish and a flock of chickens.

Julian worked as the art director for Word Branch Publishing from 2012-2016 and has provided cover art for nearly fifty titles across genres. His work has appeared on product labels, pottery and print media nation wide, and on several international book releases. Most of his work is painted in traditional media, from acrylic inks to oils, though he's broken out of his bubble and has picked up digital where it does the job best.

Originally from Kettering Ohio, he has a degree in Studio Art from Defiance College, and finished his first children’s book, Up and Away, as his capstone project. His first novel, Forsaking Magic, followed in 2014. He’s been busy on an alphabet book for pre-schoolers, and more YA fantasy ventures, including the sequel for Forsaking Magic, and upcoming LGBT surreal adventure graphic novel, Stardrop.

When he’s not painting, he’s tending his fish rescue, working in the in the garden, enjoying a cup of tea, or traveling the countryside. Julian also volunteers as a LGBT advocate and resource aid in Connecticut, helping vulnerable gender-nonconforming people find health care, support and employment.
